Programme 5 - Decision Making
Lynne has been in recruitment for 10 years. She commenced employment with Alton Towers in January this year.
She is responsible for recruiting staff for all the organisations needs. She says she's full of doubt, often questions her lack of confidence, shaking inside to bordering on hysteria because she decides the outcome of peoples careers.
She's sort of looking for approval that she's doing OK, but doesn't feel this is too appropriate given her job
Before
We will see Lynn recruiting for general maintenance engineers for 2nd hotel. There will be all sorts there from DIYers to chippys etc. People have big expectations and she wants them to have a really positive experience regardless of whether or not they get the job. We will see her giving feedback, a job she hates, and letting candidates know they haven't got a job.
Make Over
· IMPACT
Lynn will watch a video of herself She and Ros will work on the skills of moving from nice to respect.
Ros will coach Lynn on confident body language. Talk about her finest moment and her best and worst decision.
· THINKING
Game of Consequences. You question every thought with so then what....... until you realise you can cope with the worst.
· FEELING
Parent/Adult/child exercise. I Part of Lynn's problem is that she may be a child seeing approval. Ros will get her to play all parts to see what she is comfortable with then change her to the adult mode. Exercise to help intuition and logical decision making to come.
· ACTION
Ros will practice the presentation to her recruits so that she is realistic about their expectations and her feelings of a job well done.
The learning messages are;-
Impact - Creating a confident impression through the use of confident body language, even if that's not totally the way you feel inside..
Thinking- Relaxed thinking by questioning every thought with so then what?until you realise you can cope with the worst situations.
Feeling - Conditioning yourself to feel more positive and confident
Action - Putting your new found confidence to the test - the more you put the techniques in to practice the more your confidence will grow.
Confidence breeds success and transforms business. A business which helps its employees to feel more confident with each other and with customers stands an improved chance of being successful.
