In April 1985, Coca-Cola revealed to the world that they were going to do the unthinkable - change the taste of Coke. The company's main competitor, Pepsi, had proven through market research that people preferred the taste of their cola, and Coke decided they had no option but to change their own recipe.
But once the new brand had been launched, a huge public backlash occurred. People were demanding the return of the original Coca-Cola recipe, but Coke executives remained adamant that the new flavour would remain.
This programme tells the story of how one of the world's most successful corporations came close to self-destruction as it struggled to retain its dominance in the marketplace.
