When Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell suddenly announced a 20 per cent reduction in its available oil reserves last January it sent shockwaves through the City. One of the biggest oil companies in the world had been deceiving investors about the true state of its financial health. The share price plunged, and to the fury of investors, billions was wiped off the company's value.
This special investigation into one of the biggest corporate scandals of recent times follows reporter Rajan Datar attempts to hunt down former Shell chairman Sir Philip Watts - a key figure in the deception - for an explanation.
